What is Remedial Massage?
Soft tissue is comprised of muscles and their protective coverings (fascia), tendons and ligaments. Remedial massage uses a combination of techniques to aid soft tissue rehabilitation, following injury (scar tissue), exercise or for general aches and stiffness. These techniques include:
• Deep Tissue Massage: working the deeper muscle fibres where chronic tension builds up, such as the tops of the shoulders
• Trigger Point Therapy: targeting those specific ‘niggly’ points in places like the neck and lower back
• Myofascial Release: working over and releasing restrictions in the protective muscle covering (fascia)
• Soft Tissue Release: fast and effective localised tissue release, which is great on areas such as the legs and shoulders
What are the benefits of remedial massage?
• Relief from postural aches and pains
• Increased joint flexibility and muscle tone
• Improved circulation and assistance in the removal of metabolic wastes, such as lactic acid
• Techniques are suitable pre, during and post sporting events
• Injury recovery therapy and injury prevention
• Relaxation
• Improved concentration levels
What can I expect from my first appointment?
Your first appointment will last an hour and includes a consultation (where we take a brief history and discuss your requirements), physical assessment and your first treatment. Following this the best course of treatment and aftercare can be given. Each treatment is tailored to suit the individual.
