Reiki Training
'Rei' means 'spirit' and 'Ki' is the Japanese word for energy, therefore, Reiki is 'Universal Life Force Energy'.
Reiki is practised as a hand healing treatment, covering the chakras (energy points) in our bodies, to help reduce stress, promote well-being and deep relaxation. It treats the person as a whole - mind, body and spirit. The Reiki Practitioner channels the positive energy through their body’s energy centre and then directs the energy to its destination . In a treatment the practitioner passes the energy through their hands to the recipient. Reiki is a holistic treatment and is a form of complementary and alternative medicine.
Reiki was founded in Japan, by Mikao Usui in the 1920's as a series of self meditations, working with different frequencies of energy. Mikao Usui was not a medical practitioner, but did study Chinese and Western medicine as well as other methods of healing. He was also a Tendai Buddhist and there are many similarities in his methods of teaching to Buddhism. However Reiki is not a religion and is open to anyone who chooses to practise it. The story and growth of Reiki is a global one and has been passed down as the Usui system of Natural Healing. Every practitioner can trace their Reiki lineage back to Mikao Usui, Usui Shiki Ryoho, (Usui system of natural healing). Reiki has developed over the years as a western practice and therefore there are some differences from the original Japanese teachings. However the principles and energy remain the same. When you choose a Reiki Master Teacher, that person and their methods of teaching have to be instinctively right for you.
Reiki is a way of life and will change your life for the better.
